Renderings for a new six-story affordable-housing project have been revealed at 960 Simpson Street, in The Bronx’s Hunts Point neighborhood. YIMBY last reported on the development in February of 2016. The site is just a block away from the Simpson Street Subway Station, serviced by the 2 and 5 trains. The lot is located within a small commercial center, spreading over four blocks. Properties Resources Corporation will be responsible for the development.
The 60-foot tall structure will yield 73,420 square feet dedicated to residential use. All 80 apartment units will be designated as affordable, averaging 918 square feet apiece. Tenants will have access to a laundry room, fitness center, and an outdoor recreational space.
The cellar will have the capacity for residential storage as well as 40 bicycles.
The Briarwood Organization will be responsible for general contracting. Peter Clements Architect will be responsible for the design, and the project is expected to be complete by the end of the month.
