The latest renderings reveal what’s coming to 40 East End, a 20-story condominium development rising on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. Construction has been ongoing since 2015 when YIMBY first reported on the project. Lightstone is the developer.
The 210-foot tall structure yields 81,000 square feet of residential space. 29 condominiums will be created, averaging over 2,700 square feet apiece. Many units will have private balconies, including the triplex penthouse, which will have a full-floor rooftop terrace. Prices range from $3 million to $25 million, as reported by The New York Times.
Deborah Berke Partners are onboard the project as the design architect. The firm’s principal and namesake is also the current Dean of the Yale School of Architecture. Deborah Berke Partners is collaborating with Gerner Kronick + Valcarcel Architects to design the residences. The appearance takes inspiration from the local lexixon, and integrates charcoal and grey bricks with casement style windows.
“We thought a lot about what it means to live uptown today. This building is richly textured and has a sense of mass, but it’s very human-scaled. I think 40 East End will prove as a welcome addition to the neighborhood and that residents will feel a sense of belonging,” Deborah Berke said.
The building includes a curving white sculptural staircase decorated with marble and bronze, serving as a dramatic centerpiece. A second-floor amenities space will include a library, game room, fitness center, and catering kitchen.
Sales will start by the end of the month. Corcoran Sunshine is responsible for sales and marketing.
