YIMBY has a first look at yet another new five-story commercial-office building coming to Williamsburg, at 96 North 10th Street, located right in the hustle and bustle of the flourishing neighborhood. The site is just a block away from East River State Park, with panoramic views of Manhattan, and Smorgasbord on Saturdays. The Bedford Avenue L stop is five blocks away. Acme will be responsible for the development.
Several heavy masonry frames divide the curtain wall facade, providing a unique sense of scale for pedestrians. The modernist design fragments into five unique terraces covered with greenery. The renderings show a ground floor supermarket as the ideal anchor tenant, though there does not yet appear to be a specific tenant attached to the project. The rest of the space will be for offices.
The 70-foot tall building will yield 115,000 square feet for commercial use. Floor plates from the cellar to the fourth floor will each be 20,000 square feet, with 15,000 square feet on the fifth floor. The top floor will benefit from views of the East River and the Manhattan Skyline. A 48-vehicle garage will be positioned below grade.
wHY will be responsible for the design, and Urbahn Architects will be the executive architect.
Demolition and new building permits have not been filed yet, meaning significant progress remains before construction can start. A timeline for the development has not yet been announced.

Please pardon me for using your space: It’s true that Andrew Nelson is a reporter. (And thanks to all staff)
No rush to finish this until the L train is back up and running.
Why, indeed.
This looks like some sort of goofy architectural joke. Unfortunately they forgot the punchline.
This reminds me of a drawing of a game of tetris, by three years. The proportions of the elements, especially relative to one another, are deeply upsetting. Is this some sort of anti-aesthetic statement?
You have to imagine it without the greenery. They will never be able to get the vegetation to fluff over the edge of the terraces like that.
