Construction of 215 Pearl Street has largely gone unnoticed, but it has nevertheless made significant progress. Since our last update in July of 2016, the building has topped out, façade installation is all but complete, and construction of the five-story reflective lobby is underway. The 39-story structure will be adding 320 hotel rooms to the Financial District neighborhood thanks to its developer, the Lam Group.
The 396-foot tall structure yields 165,600 square feet, and will include a lobby, offices, dining rooms, bicycle storage, a fitness center, and a rooftop terrace. The building is divided between two Marriott hotel brands, a 200-room Courtyard Hotel, and a 120-room Residence Inn.
The design, by Nobutaka Ashihara Architects, is consistent with the trend for mass-market hotels around the city. The exterior appears unconcerned about any positive aesthetic contribution to the surrounding built environment. 215 Pearl Street is the epitome of a filler tower. The glass base guides the pedestrian to look at any nearby building but the new hotel, and the reflective silver top functions as camouflage.
Completion is expected within the year.
The building is connected with 6 Platt Street, a completed Four Points Hotel by Sheraton, also designed by Nobutaka Ashihara Architects.

Is this one of the ugliest buildings to be built in NYC in recent years? Building such a characterless building in that location disgusts the hell out of me.
Maybe not, just familiarize yourself with Sam Chang and his “architect” Gene Kaufman. You will certainly find plenty of evidence of Ugly to compare this lousy building too.
Its next door neighbor 6 Platt (same architect) is worse
What a dog. Why are so many NYC hotels so cheezy looking?
By the looks of this building, I’d day the rooms are rented by the hour.
Soon they will be renting port-a-potties as a studio apartment.
