Full demolition permits have been filed for 114 East 14th Street, the former retail space of P.C. Richard & Sons, also known as 124 East 14th Street. The appliance shop closed their two-story, 20,000-square-foot location last winter. In November of 2018, we reported the city’s Economic Development Corp. has been soliciting proposals to redevelop the site into new office space for up and coming business tenants in creative and tech industries in the neighborhood, and had since filed new construction permits for a 22-floor commercial building.
Located at the corner of 14th Street and Irving Place, the interior lot is situated one block from major subway hub Union Square Station, serviced by the 4, 5, 6, L, N, Q, R, and W Trains.
Rory Melvin of NYC Economic Development Corp. is listed as the owner on the latest filings. Although no new updates are available regarding housing in the proposed 286-foot tall structure, previous filing details include a projected 237,838 square footage plan, with 209,246 square feet dedicated to commercial space and 100,014 square feet to residential use.

Another major project, BilldeBlasio promoted Innovative Tech City Hub, originally with 18 story commercial and 22 story student campus. 286 feet tall, making it one of tallest building after ConEdison former HQ, and Three Towered Residential 27 story complex. I believe latter one is taller than 290 feet. So, planned TECH Hub will be 3rd tallest structure in the area surrounding Union Square. I like this area architecture, especially classical ConEd HQ towered portion. 446 feet tall. So this modern building will be nice Addition to this immediate block east of Uniin Square. This area was seeing construction of several highrise towers 18-22 stories on the 3rd Avenue.
