Earlier this week, construction officially topped out on The West, a new 12-story condominium tower at 547 West 47th Street in Hell’s Kitchen. Also addressed as 646 Eleventh Avenue, the building is expected to welcome residents by 2021.
The development team behind the project includes CB Developers, SK Development, and Ironstate Development. Building permits filed in 2017 name Greenberg Farrow as the building’s architect, but the New York-based design firm is no longer involved. Today, the teaser site where the condominiums will eventually be sold only mention Dutch architect Concrete Architectural Associates. Known as Concrete, the firm also designed citizenM New York Bowery Hotel, one of the tallest modular hotels in the world.
The West will contain 219 condos beginning at $820,000 for a studio unit. The most premium apartments will offer three-bedroom spreads and private outdoor space.
The building’s façade incorporates dark gray brickwork and industrial-style windows up through the sixth floor. From there, the structure dramatically transitions into a cubic volume that incorporates dozens of staggered residential terraces.
Amenities will span 25,000 square feet and include a rooftop pool, a fitness center, a yoga studio, a children’s playroom, pet grooming stations, a communal kitchen, a greenhouse, and two guest rooms for short-stay visitors.
