The housing lottery is now open for 222 Johnson Avenue, a seven-story affordable housing development in East Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Developed by Slate Property Group, 222 Johnson Avenue offers 35 affordable rentals in the form of studios, one-bedrooms, and two-bedrooms to New York households with incomes from $31,680–$159,640.
Located in East Williamsburg, construction began on the 363-rental-unit development in 2018 and is now available for immediate occupancy. One block north is the Montrose Avenue subway station, serviced by the L train. Also within walking distance is the Lorimer Street station, serviced by the J and M trains.
Residences include energy-efficient appliances, washer and dryer in every unit, and intercom systems. Amenities include a furnished rooftop with a gas BBQ, hammocks, and cornhole, part-time doorman, lounge space with an electric fireplace, private conference room and kitchenette, fitness center, package room, and an on-site garage.
At 60 percent of the AMI, there are six affordable studios with a $924 monthly rent for incomes ranging from $31,680 to $54,600, and 18 one-bedrooms with a $957 monthly rent for incomes ranging from $32,812 to $61,440. At 125 percent of the AMI, there is one one-bedroom with a $2,284 monthly rent for incomes ranging from $78,309 to $128,000 and four two-bedrooms with a $2,756 monthly rent for incomes ranging from $94,492 to $153,500. At 130 percent of the AMI, six two-bedrooms with a $2,876 monthly rent for incomes ranging from $98,606 to $159,640. Prospective renters must meet income and household size requirements to apply for these apartments. Applications must be postmarked or submitted online no later than November 17, 2020.
