The affordable housing lottery has launched for The Gilroy, a 40-story tower at 232 East 54th Street in Midtown East, Manhattan. Designed by Ismael Leyva, the Art Deco-inspired high-rise yields 130 units. Available on NYC Housing Connect are 40 units for residents at 70 to 130 percent of the area median income (AMI), ranging in eligible income from $45,566 to $167,570.
Amenities include a shared laundry room, bike storage lockers, gym, media room, common area Wi-Fi, recreation room, doorman, recycling center, lounge with a kitchen, and a heated rooftop terrace. Residences have air conditioning, hardwood floors, name-brand appliances and finishes, dishwashers, and washers and dryers.
At 70 percent of the AMI, there are 13 units ranging from studios to two-bedrooms for incomes ranging from $45,566 to $90,230. At 130 percent of the AMI, there are 29 units ranging from studios to two-bedrooms for incomes ranging from $82,115 to $167,570.
Prospective renters must meet income and household size requirements to apply for these apartments. Applications must be postmarked or submitted online no later than August 30, 2021.
