Castleton Supportive Housing in Elm Park, Staten Island via NYC Housing Connect

The affordable housing lottery has launched for Castleton Supportive Housing, a six-story mixed-use building at 1546 Castleton Avenue in Port Richmond, Staten Island. Designed by Amie Gross Architects and developed by Hudson Companies and Project Hospitality, the structure yields 48 residences and on-site supportive services. Available on NYC Housing Connect are 16 units for residents at 60 percent of the area median income (AMI), ranging in eligible income from $31,852 to $57,300.

Amenities include an on-site resident manager, a shared laundry room, library, computer room, lounge, bike storage lockers, an on-site resident manager, and a ground-floor community center. Rent includes gas for heating, and tenants are responsible for electricity.

At 60 percent of the AMI, there are 16 studios with a monthly rent of $843 for incomes ranging from $31,852 to $57,300.

Prospective renters must meet income and household size requirements to apply for these apartments. Applications must be postmarked or submitted online no later than April 8, 2022.

    The neighborhood is rundown but still filled with working class homeowners and renters who will see crime increase because of this ‘supportive housing’ development.

    • Why do you believe supportive housing will bring an increase in crime? I do not think you know what supportive housing is. You may want to do your due diligence before making blatantly prejudicial borderline racist comments about those who cannot afford to live the way you do.
