The Bellslip, a 414-unit mixed-use tower, is the latest residential building to debut at Greenpoint Landing, a 22-acre mega-development in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. Developed in partnership by Brookfield Properties and Park Tower Group, the 30-story building is located at 1 Bell Slip along the Greenpoint waterfront and is designed by Handel Architects.
In addition to market-rate rentals, the residential collection includes 124 units of affordable housing. Residents have already begun moving into the property.
“Opening the doors to residents at The Bellslip marks yet another milestone in the evolution of Greenpoint Landing,” said Maria Masi, senior vice president, multifamily development, Brookfield Properties. “We are excited to continue transforming this formerly industrial area into a dynamic new community that seamlessly integrates with the surrounding neighborhood, connects North Brooklynites to the waterfront with new public parks, and provides much-needed housing, both market-rate and affordable, for New Yorkers.”
Amenities at The Bellslip span nearly 21,000 square feet, an impressive offering compared to other rental properties in the area. Tenants have access to a co-working and conference area, a communal lounge, fitness studios with yoga and cycling rooms, two outdoor terraces, and an open-air pool deck, lounge areas, and grilling stations.
Leong Leong, a minority-owned architecture firm and creative agency, outfitted The Bellslip’s interior spaces with modern textures and sculptural forms including curved aluminum fin walls lining the lobby, pivoting walls that can be reconfigured for different events, and a palette of deep greens, blues, and ebonies throughout the building.
Art advisory group, The Commission Project, curated the selection of artwork displayed throughout the property.
There is also a new publicly accessible dog run.
“As the first dedicated public space for dogs in northern Greenpoint, this new run is an exciting first step in answering our community’s call to create more play spaces for our furry friends,” said Katie Denny Horowitz, executive director, North Brooklyn Parks Alliance. “With the explosion of a growing dog population since the pandemic started, we look to yesterday’s opening as a kick-off for a new network of dog runs coming to North Brooklyn.”
The Bellslip is the third of four residential projects that Brookfield Properties and Park Tower Group have brought to the 22-acre Greenpoint Landing master planned development. This includes One Blue Slip in 2018, Two Blue Slip in 2020, and the cantilevered Eagle + West tower at 227 West Street. The latter is currently under construction.
