Site excavation and foundation work is now underway for Halo, a three-tower high-rise development that will eventually be one of the tallest buildings in Newark, New Jersey. Located at 289-301 Washington Street, the 38-, 42-, and 46-story towers will comprise a mix of rental apartments, residential amenities, and a multi-level parking garage. The tallest tower will top out at 573 feet.
Fresh renderings of the development from INOA Architecture, a Manhattan-based design studio founded by Murat Mutlu, reveal an asymmetric bifurcated massing set atop a six-story podium. The towers will feature a reflective glass façade with a series of ornamental voids in the exterior curtain wall. From within, these breaks in the façade will feature cascading terraces and unique views of the surrounding city skyline.
The residential volume will yield 949 apartments that range from studios up to two-bedroom units. Total area of the project is just under 962,000 square feet.
Acier Holdings, the developer of the project, anticipates completion of phase one, the 38-story tower, by winter 2024. When complete, the full amenity package will include a rooftop pool, outdoor lounge areas, a gym, a sauna, a party lounge, and coworking space.

Why those two towers right next to each other. Wouldn’t it have been better, and cheaper, to build one larger thicker building?
This looks ridiculous.
This looks like the “Spiral’s” high tech cousin?! 🤔
So the middle tower mass is a separate legal parcel, making it three towers?
I’m really glad Newark is seeing some new construction growth, I’m just not thrilled this will be its new tallest building. The design could be worse.
I’m happy for Newark & at least this is an improvement over the atrocious, amateurish original rendering, but not a fan of this design. That base is scary IMO. I also don’t understand why they’re billing it as 3 towers when 2 look completely connected.
But hey, whatever it takes to start getting Newark on Jersey City’s level!
Those PTACS, JFC
They even line the narrow slot between the towers, creating some horrifying microclimate and doubtless speeding the evolution of a pathogen that will one day be called “like Legionnaires, but bad.”
This looks like something you’d see in Istanbul or something. Interesting.
Looks great. Let’s go Newark!
“Phase one to be complete winter 2024”
Even if recession postpones or kills phases 2 &3, Phase One by itself is impressive.
If we DO go into recession, this may well be downsized. The Halo website has a 3D zoom animation &
Halo is depicted as just 1 tower (phase 1) with a elongated platform/parking deck for the future phases.
Well see.😊 Fingers crossed.
I commented about this project months ago and doubted why anyone would live in this location and it seems those comments have been censored/removed by the YIMBY authorities….why?…..leftist perhaps? someone explain…..
