Ocean Avenue in Midwood is positively booming with residential construction. And today we have another project to add to the list at 1924 Avenue M, on the corner of Ocean Avenue.
New building applications were filed yesterday for a six-story, 21-unit residential building on the site, which sits just four blocks east of the Avenue M stop on the Q train. The development would hold 24,729 square feet of residential space, yielding spacious average units of 1,156 square feet. We expect these apartments will be two- and three-bedroom condos. Demand for condos in Midwood is relatively strong, thanks to its large Orthodox Jewish community and growing population of families with children.
The ground floor would hold 5,114 square feet of commercial space, followed by five units per story through the sixth floor.
There will also be a parking lot with room for 21 cars, which is more than zoning requires.
Edward Glazarov of Staten Island-based Westking Realty Corp. is the developer, and Igor Zaslavskiy of Zproekt will be responsible for the design.
The 7,800-square-foot property is currently home to a series of single-story commercial buildings.
So far this year, we’ve seen several projects on Ocean Avenue, including a nine-story, 56-unit development at 2126 Ocean Avenue and an eight-story one at 2226 Ocean Avenue in Madison.
