A sprawling mixed-use development with a substantial wellness-focused community facility will soon make its home in Mount Hope, The Bronx. Located at 1761 Walton Avenue, the 14-story building will span approximately 102,500 square feet and rise from a vacant, L-shaped lot. Mount Hope Housing Company, a Bronx-based community development organization that rehabilitates and manages affordable housing, and Procida Companies, a local general contractor, have partnered on the development.
The residential component will occupy around 94,000 square feet and include 104 rental apartments. Available units will include 60 one-bedroom, 27 two-bedroom, and 17 three-bedroom spreads. As a 100-percent affordable housing development, the apartments are exclusively reserved for individuals and households at 30 to 60 percent area median income.
Community facilities include a large basketball court, a separate fitness center, and associated locker rooms. When complete, the recreational area will comprise 8,500 square feet.
According to documents filed in 2017, construction is expected to conclude by next year.

Unless there is 24 hour security in these new buildings, they are destined to become the new ghetto type dwellings with all of the problems. Most of the people will be hard working individuals who want and deserve a better life, but a few bad actors will ruin it.
Crime in the Bronx continues to decline as more and more buildings are constructed.
How does one apply?
Why after you are told u are qualified; you still don’t get the apartment?.
Because there are others who make way more $$$ than you, have better credit and are considered better tenants. They probably won’t have a ton of children either.
But you can try to appeal.

As of at least June 1st 2019 site work had yet to begin at this project, let alone construction, considering that it is 14 floors I a 2020 completion is a bit unlikely.
Will this be posted on housing connect? Please advise.
