426 East 58th Street [New York Press]: Bauhouse Group is planning a 95-unit, 268,000 square-foot luxury residential building, standing “over 900 feet tall,” at their assemblage spanning 426-432 East 58th Street, in Midtown East. Plans are not final, and the site could be sold to another developer.
An LLC has filed applications for a three-story, 32-unit residential building measuring 34,623 square feet spanning the lots of 695-705 6th Avenue, in South Slope. Karl Fischer is designing, and an existing single-story structure must first be removed.
Some big changes are coming to a TriBeCa building, thanks to approval from the Landmarks Preservation Commission. On Tuesday, the LPC approved a proposal to modify the five-story building at 71-73 Franklin Street, just off Broadway. The building dates back to 1861 and will be converted from its original form – an Italianate/Second Empire loft building – to residential use. There will be six units, plus ground floor retail.
Back in February, YIMBY revealed the first renderings of DDG’s new tower coming to 180 East 88th Street. Now, YIMBY has also learned that the project’s 521-foot height (it has seen a bump from 469 feet) will make it the tallest building north of 72nd Street. A tipster has also sent along demolition photos, which show the old tenements that formerly occupied the site have now been cleared to make way for the 31-story building.
Construction is booming in Long Island City, but it’s pretty unusual to find a new building with apartments and manufacturing space, like the one planned for 40-05 Crescent Street. Permits were filed back in September and approved last month for the five-story, 36,433-square-foot building.
