Demolition Continues on Site of Fifth Billionaires’ Row Supertall at 41-47 West 57th Street in Midtown, Manhattan

Demolition is getting underway at 37 West 57th Street, the latest addition to the assemblage of 41-47 West 57th Street in Midtown, Manhattan that is planned to give rise to a 63-story mixed-use supertall skyscraper. Developer Sedesco acquired the 13-story office building in 2023, adding to its expanding swath of contiguous properties for its 1,100-foot tower, which is being designed by OMA. The Billionaires’ Row structure is slated to yield 119 condominium units with an average scope of 1,992 square feet, as well as a 158-room hotel and a 10,212-square-foot restaurant. The property is located between Fifth and Sixth Avenues with frontage on both West 57th and West 58th Streets.

The 21st-tallest building on YIMBY’s year-end construction countdown is the Xadia Hotel, a 475-foot-tall hotel tower at 58 West 39th Street in Midtown, Manhattan. Designed by Marin Architects and developed by Wei Hong Hu under the H Hotel LLC, the 42-story structure will yield 173 guest rooms and amenities including a restaurant, an arcade, and a rooftop bar. The project is located on a narrow interior plot between Fifth and Sixth Avenues, one block south of Bryant Park.

New Renderings Revealed For The Met’s $500 Million Expansion on Manhattan’s Upper East Side

The Metropolitan Museum of Art recently released new renderings for the Oscar L. Tang and H.M. Agnes Hsu-Tang Wing, a $500 million expansion of the world-famous institution on Manhattan’s Upper East Side. Designed by Frida Escobedo Studio with Beyer Blinder Belle as the executive architect, the addition will span 126,000 square feet, including 71,000 square feet for The Met’s 20th- and 21st-century art collection, as well as 18,500 square feet of outdoor space. The new structure will rise from within the museum’s existing footprint, replacing the aging 120,000-square-foot wing that currently sits at the southwest corner of the site.

New renderings have been revealed for 3085 John F. Kennedy Boulevard, a two-building residential development in Jersey City, New Jersey. Designed by Hoboken-based MVMK Architecture and developed by Journal Square Estates LLC, the 12-story, 156-foot-tall complex is part of the Journal Square 2060 Redevelopment Plan and will yield 373 apartments in studio- to three-bedroom layouts, as well as 72 enclosed parking spaces, storage for 97 bicycles, and 1,356 square feet of ground-floor retail space. The 29,000-square-foot through-lot property is bound by the Pulaski Skyway to the north, John F. Kennedy Boulevard to the east, and Skillman Avenue to the west.
