220 Central Park South is ever so close to becoming the third slender skyscraper to open up in the last few years along Billionaire’s Row. While Central Park Tower has overshadowed its presence across Midtown, that hasn’t taken away from the attraction for this park-bound limestone real estate. For the next few months, construction workers will be toiling tirelessly to reach the seemingly possible year-end completion deadline.
Since its founding in 1990, Kenneth Horn’s Alchemy Properties has acquired over two million square feet of residential space in New York City. During those 28 years, Mr. Horn has personally overseen the sales of $2 billion of real estate, all with a staff of about thirty people. With a full slate of new developments in the works, YIMBY sat down with Ken to discuss the firm’s current plans.
World renowned architecture firm Robert A.M. Stern Architects is working on yet another project on the Upper West Side, and this time it’s the restoration and interior design for 225 West 86th Street, aka The Belnord. The building is just off of the 1 subway line between 86th Street and 87th Streets, and Broadway and Amsterdam Avenue.
Progress is moving forward on a new rental building in the heart of Midtown. After topping out in November 2017, 1050 Sixth Avenue’s glass and façade installation have now reached halfway up. The 24-story building is rising half a block away from Bryant Park. Skyline Developers is responsible for the project.
