This project rising near the new MoMA Tower was entirely off of my radar, given new skyscrapers are a dime-a-dozen in New York, but the new building permits have increased the building’s height to over 600 feet. The site is the former Donnell Library, which has now been almost completely demolished.
Here’s an image of the original design, as no renderings of the new design have yet been provided–

The building was originally intended as a mixed hotel/condominium, however the plans have clearly changed.
There was a new building permit filed that indicates the developer has submitted a design change, increasing the building’s height to 46 stories, rising 610 feet. The actual height may be closer to 650-700′ including any design element, as the 610′ figure simply indicates the height of the highest occupied floor.
Regardless, the amount of change ongoing in Midtown West is ridiculous. 20 West 53rd is literally down the block from MoMA, and it’s crazy to think that two significant towers (one obviously a little bigger than the other) will be rising across from each other–although when considering the cases of 225 West 57th/157 West 57th, as well as 255 West 55th/the new Marriot, the situation isn’t quite so absurd.
