Some projects move so quickly you can blink and they’re almost finished, which is the case for 237 West 54th. The future Hilton is sandwiched between 250 West 55th and 1715 Broadway, so it’s hard enough to notice, but the tower will rise to roughly 35 stories. Luckily that’s enough to block 1715 Broadway’s lower western side, which is a blank wall. The new hotel’s design is quite benign, but why should benign qualify as good enough? The front of the building is still removed from the street, which breaks the street wall–definitely the design’s worst aspect.
Perhaps the most interesting part of the last update (from the end of April) was the union rat, which is–unfortunately–no longer menacing the site.
