Although it still depends on the amount of light, the facade of 250 West 55th is looking better and better as it nears completion. Ultimately the building is still a glass box, lacking in creativity and devoid of ornamentation, but it’s merely boring rather than an eyesore.
On the same block, 1715 Broadway is nearing the height of its topped-out neighbor. Once finished, the new Marriott Hotels will actually loom over the block, as the building’s final height will be approximately 750′. Roughly 20 stories are left, and the glass continues rising on the lower portion of the structure.
Next weekend the crane will be coming down, with West 55th Street between 8th & Broadway closed Saturday and Sunday.
Thanks for the info!
