The wrapping has come off of the new Fulton Street Transit Center’s ‘oculus’ roof, and the result is something that’s quite… shiny, and not much else. The oculus actually doesn’t have a tremendous presence from the street, as the base of the new transit hub obstructs most of the view from perspectives on the ground. Clearly the base of the building needs cladding before the structure can be judged as a whole, but early impressions are that the building will appear grander from the inside than the out, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing.
