These pictures taken on Tuesday show One57 in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, with the tower’s crane dangling precariously over 57th Street. Inspections have shown that the crane is apparently not in danger of crashing to the ground, but just how the crane is dismantled is up in the air.
Surely the collapsed crane will delay the building’s opening, as the process of removing something so heavy from 1,000 feet in the air is quite complicated. The collapse has generated an enormous amount of buzz around One57, as the incident was one of the most reported-on events of Hurricane Sandy.
