Though growth of the Downtown skyline has hit a temporary pause, 56 Leonard is about to change that; the tower is already at its 3rd floor. The long-delayed luxury condo building is now rising slowly but rhythmically, having gone up one floor since the last construction update from one month ago.
56 Leonard will become quite prominent, dominating its Tribeca surroundings while complimenting the Woolworth Building, and acting as a stepping-stone towards 99 Church Street and the new World Trade Center.
Completion of 56 Leonard Street is slated for 2015, which means that the tower will be rising at the same time as 99 Church, which is supposedly slated to resume construction late this year. Both residential towers are enormous in their own right, though the perception of their scale will be minimized by the gargantuan towers of the new World Trade Center.
