Cary Tamarkin’s boutique condominum building at 508 West 24th Street presents a perfect opportunity for taking construction photos, as the development is just moving above The High Line. The first of the project’s exposed concrete facade is visible, with detailing evident; it does seem the exterior will match the project’s renderings – via the official website – though whether the concrete is pristinely white remains to be seen. The construction process seems to have added a layer of dirt and grime to the facade, but once work wraps up, the exterior will be cleaned off, hopefully showcasing concrete’s aesthetic potential.
With work now at eye-level, exterior and interior work is easy to see, and the development’s ‘guts’ are on full display. 508 West 24th Street represents a rare opportunity for real, public views of new construction, and passersby can glimpse the metalwork and concrete forms that are giving rise to Tamarkin’s building.
508 West 24th Street will have fifteen units, and opening is anticipated for 2014.
