The Brooklyn Bridge Park’s proposed Pier 6 towers, in Brooklyn Heights, are moving forward after NIMBY actions temporarily stalled the project. The 31- and 15-story buildings, to contain 130 affordable residential units, will be reviewed by Empire State Development, and a development team will be chosen from 14 unique proposals, according to The Wall Street Journal.

I’m all for development, build baby build! but in this case why don’t they switch the two buildings? put the taller one closer to the BQE and the shorter one near the water, seems like it would be more sensible no? I never understood the whole, let’s build a wall of buildings at the water and screw everyone inland, the tallest buildings should be in the central core and then level out at the edges thereby allowing light and air into the center. Like what Shop is attempting to do at Domino with its cut outs…
