An anonymous corporation has filed permits for a new six-story residential building in East Flatbush, at 1622 New York Avenue. The location is just four blocks away from the Flatbush Avenue Station, which is the end of the line for the 2 and 5 trains. The stop is central to a busy retail area next to the Brooklyn College campus.

The 68-foot tall building will bring 36 units designed for families. The proposal will yield 28,500 square feet of new space, with 25,000 square feet of residential space, and 1,800 square feet of community facility space on the first floor. There will also be a laundry room, and a below-ground parking garage with 18 parking spaces.

Three units will be on ground floor, with eight units on the second, third, and fourth floors. Seven units will be on the fifth, and two will be on the sixth floor, along with a 1445-square-foot roof deck.

Beam Architects will be responsible for the design. The site is currently occupied, and demolition permits have not been filed.

Amazing that you can build a 6-story apartment building on a 40′ wide lot. It will stick out on that block of private homes. But it will rent out quickly.
