Renderings Revealed for Mixed-Use Development at 700 East 241st Street in Wakefield, The Bronx

Rendering of East 241 Street Development

Developers recently approached New York City’s Department of City Planning for zoning approvals to permit the construction of a new 9-story, mixed-use building in The Bronx, and today, YIMBY has the first renderings for the project. The site would include a combination of affordable and market-rate housing, ground floor retail, office space, community facilities, and expanded parking accommodations for both public and residential use.

Located in the borough’s Wakefield neighborhood at 700 East 241st Street, the proposed development would introduce nearly 381,000 square feet of residential square footage. The housing components include 416 total apartments, 255 of which would be designated permanently affordable.

Outdoor recreation areas for residents will occupy the building’s first floor.

Additional components includes ground floor commercial area measuring approximately 62,000 square feet, a 17,000 square foot community facility, and parking accommodations below-grade designed to accommodate over 100 vehicles.

Aufgang Architects is credited as design architect of the proposed development.

An official environment assessment report attached to developer proposals was conducted by Langan Engineering and concluded work would result in minimal disruption to the surrounding environment and community. No official completion date has been announced yet.
