Construction of a new $35 million community center on the Sarah Lawrence campus has topped out. Construction of the Barbara Walters Campus Center is making significant progress on the Yonkers campus. Just this late September, they celebrated the installation of the final piece of structural steel. The Sarah Lawrence College is responsible for the development.
This center was made possible following the $15 million donation of Barbara Walters, an alumni and extraordinarily successful American broadcast journalist. The building will yield 34,800 square feet, which will function as a campus-gathering place. Both students and staff will have access to new lounges, dining and event facilities.
KSS Architects is responsible for the design. The structure has been designed to be environmental friendly.
The building is expected to open in the Fall of 2019, in time for the class of 2023.
