Excavation is well underway at Erik Ekstein’s latest development in Bushwick, Brooklyn. The property is located on the corner of Broadway and Palmetto Street, and according to Ekstein Development, the official address will be 8 Palmetto Street.
As previously reported by YIMBY, the building is designed by GF55 Partners and will comprise 103,378 square feet. The property will contain a mix of residences, commercial area, community facilities, and a 100-vehicle parking garage.
The residential component will occupy the majority of the building measuring nearly 65,000 square feet. That area will yield 88 rental units. A 20,000-square-foot community facility is expected to contain either healthcare or medical services. The property’s commercial area ranks third at just over 18,000 square feet.
The anticipated date of completion is spring 2021.

“A 100-unit parking garage.”
This is stupid. All the money spent on those parking spaces could have been used to build dozens of affordable apartments.
Where do residents, customers, and workers park their cars, then?
How about you build your own building and exclude parking and then you’ll be happy.
Maybe but people cannot live in the parking lot
It’s about time someone realized that parking in the sky doesn’t happen in Bushwick.
