YIMBY Tours Office Floors of One Willoughby Square, in Downtown Brooklyn

One Willoughby Square designed by FXCollaborative, render by DBOX

YIMBY recently went on a hard hat tour of One Willoughby Square, aka 420 Albee Square in Downtown Brooklyn, which is on track to become the tallest new office building in the borough. The 495-foot-tall building, which will contain 500,000 square feet of Class A office space across 34 stories, is being designed by FXCollaborative and developed by JEMB Realty. Gilbane Development Company is in charge of the construction progress.

The tower’s T-shaped floor plates will soon surpass the surrounding buildings and provide views of Downtown Brooklyn, Lower Manhattan, Midtown, Long Island City, and the harbor.

  1. You are a Vice President of new views for progress with a large scoping on construction, and your style was unlike that of the other. I had a way of turning heads to you by its work in moving forward about design, spend most of the time to see evidence along words introducing. No annoying personality on the structure, and seemed to take little from work with under construction. (Thanks to Michael Young)

This will be another great addition to way cool Downtown Brooklyn. The updated mid-century modern is a nice contract to the other recent towers. Brooklyn just seems to do better than that Manhattan monotony.

What’s about 300 Ashland complex, it’s nice too, with Brooklyn’s own Apple Store, Whole Foods and Library and BAM’s space. With elevated public space with seats.

  3. Might be helpful to use this post to give an update re Willoughby Square Park. You can see there that the city, after taking over the project, has built a small pop-up park at the northern end, and it is planning on building it sans parking garage but facing a suit from that horrid developer that did nothing with the site for years.

Best office tower building in Brooklyn of 21st Century.
This City Point Complex will be look finished after this tower and park will be completed.
Brooklyn’s own replica of Hudson Yards, with it’s tallest towers, Brooklyn Point and 9 Decalb, and own biggest shopping center in Downtown Brooklyn with Giant underground Food Hall, Alamo Multiscreen Cinema, biggest Century 21 Department Store, the biggest City Target, Trader Joe, hopefully space under 9 Decalb and former Dime Building will be used well. Practically across the Big Renovated Macy’s Department Store, and steps from BAM and Atlantic Terminal, and Barcley’s Center sport arena, 300 Ashland complex with first Apple Store in Brooklyn. What’s I missed???

This is nothing close to hudson yards. The Century 21 is closing. That Target is nowhere close to the biggest in the city. 300 Ashland was NOT the first apple store in Brooklyn. where are you getting your info?

Nice office tower, this mimic Citypoint as Brooklyn replica of Hudson Yards. Citypoint is huge shopping center, huge Food Hall, Brooklyn’s tallest Skyscraper, Brooklyn Point, Brooklyn’s biggest Multiscreen Cinema, and pretty soon Brooklyn’s own Supertall on 9 Decalb, nearby BAM new theatrical performance center, another big mall
in complex of Brooklyn’s own largest Transit Hub and Train Station Complex, what’s I missed, the Barcleys Center, the second giant sport arena and performance space under the one roof, a true architectural Gem.
Btw Chase Building in Metrotech even it was built in early of 1990s well deserved a credit as a most well looking modern(postmpdern) building in Brooklyn, with some art deco feelings.
Maybe this One Willoughby Square tower will be as successful Brooklyn addition as that great building. Chase Building is only 25 stories. Sounds like crazy, it was one of 10 tallest building in Brooklyn when it was built!!!

How majestic looks Chase Building, and it was built in early 1990s, postmodern gem in Downtown Brooklyn and one of ten tallest Building in whole Borough, when it was just finished 27 years ago!!!

    Brooklyn is a new Manhattan???
    Remember this???
This when new Atlantic Terminal built with Brooklyn’s “Grand Central”. And this was just a decade ago, and Brookliner at 513 feet, just was built.
I remember when Renaissance Center Marriott was built, looks like was one of tallest building in Boroughs. They just start Williamsburg new towers, 29 stories, and there were nothing taller anywhere up to Citi Tower in Court Square, a sole true 200 meter high Skyscraper in whole Long Island!!!
