Allstate Ventures has released renderings of Westchester Place, an upcoming three-building development in downtown New Rochelle that aims to transform the city’s civic center. The mixed-use project is being designed by Richard Bienenfeld Architect and will encompass 410,000 square feet of newly built space.

“The vision Allstate has for New Rochelle is invigorating,” said Stephen Kliegerman, president of Halstead Development Marketing and long-time Westchester resident. “They are taking what is an underdeveloped alley and creating a live/work/play environment that will be a haven for artists and a vibrant destination for the community. We are excited to work with them on this process and help develop downtown New Rochelle.”

The first building to break ground is located at 64 Centre Street, a 14-story structure that will contain 144 units, unspecified amenities, on-site parking, and 1,550 square feet of ground-floor retail. The apartments will range from studios to two-bedroom layouts.

Construction at 64 Centre Street is expected to kick off this autumn.

The two additional buildings within Westchester Place feature a similar division of residential, retail, and parking components.

316 Huguenot Street will also top out at 14 stories and will eventually yield 190 studio through two-bedroom residences, amenity spaces, 3,276 square feet of ground-floor retail, and on-site parking.

8 Westchester Place, slightly shorter than the previous two phases, will rise seven stories above ground. The residential component includes 72 apartments reserved exclusively for artist housing. This site is also expected to support art galleries, 6,374 square feet of ground-floor retail space with restaurant capabilities, and outdoor seating.

  1. Call me crazy but I’d rather have that view of the emerald city to the distant south than anything on Central Park South.

  2. MORE BUILDINGS IN NEW ROCHELLE? TIME TO MOVE! TIME FOR NEW MAYOR.

  3. These developments are great for New Rochelle. We are close to the city and more affordable than surrounding towns. We need more residents and retail which is what these buildings bring in. Noam Bramson is a fantastic mayor but City Manager Charles Strome actually runs the city, makes more money than Noam and cannot be voted out of office. Maybe people who don’t like buildings shouldn’t read YIMBY?

JJJIM, a new mayor isn’t going to stop this, not with the current city council setup and the way the zoning is established. You have to accept this.

  5. *** 64 Centre Avenue, not Centre Street.
    We are commencing monitoring tomorrow.
