Installation of 323 East 61st Street‘s signature etched glass curtain wall has begun as work continues on the Upper East Side project. Memorial Sloan Kettering is set to lease the entire six-story structure, which is designed by Daniel Goldner Architects and developed by LaSalle Investment Management and William Macklowe Company. Located between First and Second Avenues, the building stands 74 feet tall and will yield 61,740 square feet, of which 49,750 square feet will be dedicated to community facilities.

The structural frames for the glass, which feature a tight array of thin white lines, are in place and nearly span the total height of the main southern elevation. This patterning will allow for ample natural light while providing occupants with a degree of privacy. A perimeter of gray metal panels will surround the windows at the top and eastern end of the building. This treatment will also be applied to the concrete walls of the two egress cores on the eastern and western ends of the edifice. Memorial Sloan Kettering’s newest property fits well within the overall height of the neighborhood and directly rises up from the sidewalk without a setback.
The Lexington Avenue-59th Street subway station is a short walk from the site and provides access to the 4, 5, 6, N, Q, R, and W trains. Also nearby is the tram that connects to Roosevelt Island, where a large number of Memorial Sloan Kettering employees live.
Construction could finish on 323 East 61st Street either sometime near the end of 2020 or in the early part of 2021.
