Exterior work is still wrapping up on 7 West 57th Street, a 19-story mixed-use residential project in Midtown. External progress has slowed down over the past months, while the state of the interiors remains unclear. The topped-out building is designed by Hill West Architects and developed by Solow Realty & Development Group, which purchased the property along Billionaires’ Row 14 years ago for $25,550,000. Vidaris is the envelope consultant for the 237-foot-tall structure.
Photographs show what appears to be vertical panels of channeled glass on the western side of the structure that face the curved dark glass surface of the Solow Building. Since our last construction update back in November 2019, only two levels of this exterior assembly have been put up, while the rest of the wall remains blank. Nonetheless, what we see is a nice, subtle finish that best covers the flat painted concrete surface. In between the translucent envelope is the horizontal framework that holds the enclosure in place. We can see this in the main rendering marking the location of every floor plate up towards the roof parapet. Meanwhile the metal beams in between the reflective glass façade are all installed and give a sleek finish to the slim edifice. Hopefully work will pick up sometime soon and we will get to see how the final product compares to the renderings.
YIMBY previously reported that the 32,099 square feet of residential space will be divided among 16 full-floor condominium units, each averaging just over 2,000 square feet. The first two stories will contain 4,100 square feet of retail space. Below is a photograph of the top of the northern elevation that shows the upper floors providing views of Central Park.
A completion date for 7 West 57th Street has not been announced, but it sometime by the end of the year or early 2021 is possible.

Look at and think about, more things so that you can see the differences: Thanks to Michael Young.
Very disappointing. I hate that painted concrete on the western façade.
They’re covering up the painted concrete w/ the channeled glass.
What news about Solow’s building across the street?
