The housing lottery is now open for The Cove, an 18-story residential development at 43-12 Hunter Street in Long Island City, Queens. Developed by Rockrose Development and designed by SLCE Architects with interiors by Slade Architecture, the building yields a total 123 rentals in a mix of studios, one-, and two-bedroom units. Available on NYC Housing Connect are the 37 apartments at 130 percent of the area median income, ranging from $68,229 to $159,640.

Amenities include a virtual doorman, bike storage lockers, a shared laundry room, a recreation room, a library lounge, a sun lounge, a gym, and a rooftop terrace with barbecue grills. Homes will have in-unit washers and dryers, stainless steel kitchen appliances, and quartz countertops. 43-12 Hunter Street will also have 4,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space.

At 130 percent of the AMI, there are 19 affordable studios with a $1,990 monthly rent for incomes ranging from $68,229 to $118,300; 13 one-bedrooms with a $2,345 monthly rent for incomes ranging from $80,400 to $133,120; and five two-bedrooms with a $3,072 monthly rent for incomes ranging from $105,326 to $159,640. Prospective renters must meet income and household size requirements to apply for these apartments. Applications must be postmarked or submitted online no later than December 4, 2020.

Leasing for the remaining 86 market-rate units is expected to launch soon.

  1. One bedrooms in that neighborhood are the same rent about $2500. Most of the one bedrooms in the free market give two months free rent and some even offer three months free rent.
    So there is no real bargain . Studio for $2000 is the current market rate. This is not a bargain. They should lower those rents by 33% Sounds like a fake promotion

  2. Weeellll since when is THIS affordable housing?? Affordable Housing is SALARY based housing!!! That’s just regular rent and requirements! It’s a dog gone shame how they do us out here.

  4. What a shame! And a sham!What about AFFORDABLE HOUSING for the Underserved! Don’t you realize there’s money to made from helping the Underserved!!? Make history by building luxury living apartments for those struggling to survive! Think about it! Tax Deduction Galore!!!

  5. Oh please i applied and receive a letter saying i am not qualify making to muchb and so funny i am on unemployment. They said they will not discriminate but a lot of ppl getting decline….
