Permits have been filed for a 12-story residential building at 1245 Edward L. Grant Highway in Highbridge, The Bronx. Located between Jerome Avenue and West 168th Street, the interior lot is five blocks west of the 167th Street subway station, serviced by the B and D trains. Stagg Group is listed as the owner behind the applications.
The proposed 114-foot-tall development will yield 85,335 square feet, with 80,678 square feet designated for residential space. The building will have 121 residences, most likely rentals based on the average unit scope of 667 square feet. The concrete-based structure will also have a 31-foot-long rear yard.
Minkuk Kim of Marin Architects is listed as the architect of record.
Demolition permits were filed earlier this month for the single-story building on the site. An estimated completion date has not been announced.

I used to travel by bus on this street going to school in the 1960s. “Edward L. Grant” was a WW One soldier, otherwise forgotten now. The street’s original name was “Boscobel Road,” much more historic.
Eddie Grant played baseball for the New York Giants and was the first Major League ballplayer killed in WWI.
