This week Tishman Speyer and Irvine Company revealed the next phase of renovations and capital improvements at the historic MetLife Building, with new food and beverage options set to debut in 2023. Located at 200 Park Avenue in Midtown East, Manhattan, the building’s new dining options will include the iconic Capital Grille, organic and fair-trade café Jack’s Stir Brew Coffee, Black Seed Bagels, as well as a pop-up run by Talea Beer Co., a woman-owned brewery based in Brooklyn.

Additional dine-in and to-go operators will be announced in the coming months.

“As one of the most recognizable buildings in New York City, 200 Park Avenue has been reimagined to offer modern amenities, which will now also include these fantastic dining experiences,” said Chris Shehadeh, senior managing director and New York regional director at Tishman Speyer. “New Yorkers coming to the area through Grand Central, and our customers at 200 Park, will now be able to gather and enjoy a variety of new and exciting food and drink options.”

The scope of renovations included reinstatement of a long-shuttered connection to Grand Central Terminal and a top-down modernization of the building’s ground-floor lobby. Designed by MdeAS Architect, the two-level, 50,000-square-foot lobby now includes travertine-clad columns, terrazzo flooring, statuary bronze finishes, and wood finishes.

Earlier this month, 200 Park Avenue won the prestigious NYCxDesign Commercial Lobby and Amenity award and was a nominee in the NYC Shining Moment category in recognition of the new lobby.

Additional upgrades include a full suite of hospitality-inspired health and wellness amenity spaces operated by Tishman Speyer’s ZO.

  1. Just doesn’t have the same pop as the ‘Pan Am Building’

  2. This building is not easy to walk to or access

  3. It’s so ugly that I’ve actually gotten to like it. A nice way to enter GCT from 45th St.

  4. This building has been an enormous eyesore since the day it was built, single-handedly destroying the views and flow of people in the most important location in Midtown East. However, as the skyline continues to grow upward around it, the negative effects become less consequential. Somebody please tear it down before it becomes landmarked!

  5. What about Naples? Best pizza ! Is it coming back or Cucina ?
