Exterior work is complete on 249 East 50th Street, a 15-story residential building in the Midtown East neighborhood of Turtle Bay. Designed by Issac & Stern Architects and developed by Tun Kyaw, the 151-foot-tall structure yields 50,000 square feet and 29 condominium units with an average scope of 1,700 square feet. The property is located near the corner of East 50th Street and Second Avenue.
Finishing touches have wrapped up since our last update in August and the sidewalk scaffolding and construction barriers have been removed, revealing the completed look of the ground floor and entrance.
There is a black rectangular metal canopy hanging over the front doors and light fixtures, and only minor work on the interiors left to be completed.
249 East 50th Street’s slender southern façade is composed of a grid of floor-to-ceiling windows surrounded by warm rectangular stone panels. The same materials and textures are seen on the largely blank eastern party wall, which is lined on each end by a stack of windows. Glass railings surround the multiple setbacks and balconies on the western profile.
The closest subway is the 6 train at the 51st Street station two avenues to the west, with connection to the E and M trains at the Lexington Avenue-53rd Street station.
249 East 50th Street should reach full completion in the coming weeks.
