Permits have been filed for a six-story residential building at 166-16 88th Avenue in Jamaica, Queens. Located between 168th Street and Merrick Boulevard, the lot is near the 169th Street subway station, serviced by the E and F trains. Fazle Abbas Devjiyani of Laithdevelopers is listed as the owner behind the applications.
The proposed 60-foot-tall development will yield 12,965 square feet designated for residential space. The building will have 20 residences, most likely rentals based on the average unit scope of 648 square feet. The steel-based structure will also have a 37-foot-long rear yard, three open parking spaces, and seven enclosed parking spaces.
Gerald Caliendo Architects is listed as the architect of record.
Demolition permits have not been filed yet for the residential building on the property. An estimated completion date has not been announced.

It’s a shame that little house, can’t be moved to another location, to still provide housing… instead of ending up in landfill, housing NOBODY! 🤔🤗
I’m not sure this little old house is lamentable. What we should be lamenting is the replacement is being designed by Gerald Caliendo, who sucks as an architect and will likely look like garbage.
Why is it a shame? It’s fantastic news that higher density housing is replacing low density housing near a huge transit hub. Great for the environment, great for smart growth, great for future prosperity. I wish all the single family homes near rail hubs were replaced by large apartment buildings. The only shame is that the replacement building isn’t at least 2-3 times bigger than planned. This should be a 15-20 floor apartment building, at least.
