  1. What do you think someone making 130k can rent in this city, esp in a neighborhood like this? You think only low income should get really nice new apartments and people who make a bit more can just live in a crappy place somewhere?

    • if you make 130K a year you don’t need NYs taxpayers to subsidize your apartment getting built.
If you make 130K you can choose to live where you want , in any neighborhood you want , unlike low and middle income who desperately need housing.

      • 130K Gross in NYC will not take you far, especially if you are single and trying to live on your own without roommates (like an adult)… for couples, each making around 100-130K, it’s a different story…

        • With 130k you cannot rent a 2 bedroom that’s half decent in most neighborhoods. Do you even live here? You can rent decent 1 bedrooms, that’s it.

So you think poor people should get a nice new apartment for a small part of their income while people who make a bit more can go and live in crappy places or be forced out of the city?

  2. This comment by Sjakie posted August 27, 2023 is everything I have thought for so long and have discussed with friends and colleagues often when we see buildings going up. To grow in income over years and find your hard work and education means nothing in housing. We send our children raise our children send them to college only yo live back at home after graduation. In order to get a beautiful terrace view apartment they would have to live and share the high price of rent. The housing is asking higher incomes to buy an expensive house or leave NY. Over the years I watched my kids and other young adults who earn too much suffer not being able to afford and enjoy what was meant for every citizen in The city of NY.
