Permits have been filed for a seven-story mixed-use building at 340 West 53rd Street in Hell’s Kitchen, Manhattan. Located between Eighth and Ninth Avenues, the interior lot is two blocks west of the 7th Avenue subway station, serviced by the B, D, and E trains. Shirley Wang is listed as the owner behind the applications.

The proposed 66-foot-tall development will yield 16,257 square feet, with 13,484 square feet designated for residential space and 2,773 square feet for commercial space. The building will have ten residences, most likely condos based on the average unit scope of 1,348 square feet. The concrete-based structure will also have a cellar and a 38-foot-long rear yard.

Kutnicki Bernstein Architects is listed as the architect of record.

Demolition permits have not been filed yet. An estimated completion date has not been announced.

  1. Sounds like part of this is to renovate and keep the historic black church next door. If so- cudos…

    • that’s very wishful thinking on your part, do you have any inside info?
      Destroy this low rise and destroy the character of the historic church next door.

      • If you check the blog W42ST, you’ll see the an article that explains that the church is being saved and restored. Only the rectory is being torn down.

This parish was the first black catholic parish in the north .It started out down in the Village at 210 bleecker Street. this is before they extend 6th ave further south . our Lady of Pompeii bought there old church and they moved North .this part of Greenwich Village was known as Little Africa back then .
