Demolition is progressing at 436 Union Avenue, the site of a seven-story residential building in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Designed by Kao Hwa Lee Architects for Yisroel Greenfeld, the 60-foot-tall structure will span 8,697 square feet and yield 13 rental units with an average scope of 669 square feet, as well as a cellar level and a 53-foot-long rear yard. The property is located between Metropolitan Avenue and Devoe Street, directly in front of the confluence of Union Avenue and Keap Street.

Recent photographs show the top floor of the three-story occupant of the site already razed and crews in the process of gutting the second level. All windows have been removed and workers are visible inside removing the walls, doors, cabinets, and pipes. YIMBY expects demolition and site clearing to conclude before the end of winter.

Can dismantled materials be reused? I’m just asking based on my instincts and regret: Thanks.
