Permits have been filed to horizontally expand Fairfield Inn & Suites, a 17-story hotel at 116 West 28th Street in Chelsea, Manhattan. Located between Sixth and Seventh Avenues, the building is within walking distance of the 28th Street subway stations, served by the R, W, and 1 trains. Hiu Cheng of 112 West 28th Street LLC is listed as the owner behind the applications.
The proposed 153-foot-tall development will yield 58,039 square feet designated for commercial space. The building will have 176 rooms, up from 112 lodgings, with an average unit scope of 329 square feet. The concrete-based structure will also have a cellar and a 20-foot-long rear yard.
Martin H. Kapell is listed as the architect of record.
Demolition permits will likely not be needed as the project calls for a horizontal expansion. An estimated completion date has not been announced.

Let’s just hope it never becomes a migrant hotel.
This block has been raped by hotel developers.
