A church-to-residential conversion project in Downtown Brooklyn looks like its getting close to finished, at least on the outside. Our friend Tectonic sent us some photos of 200 Nassau Street and the façade is almost entirely in place. There’s plenty of work still to be done at the ground level and a little on the top of the structure. Otherwise, things are looking good.

The site, between Gold and Duffield streets, used to be the two-story Catholic Church of the Open Door and the Dr. White Community Center. The expanded structure, at five-stories or 55 feet, topped out a little over a year ago. Now, it looks like completion will happen this year, possibly in spring.

It expanded from 13,022 square feet to 59,184 square feet, all of which will be devoted to 84 residential units. That works out to units averaging over 704 square feet. Many of them will be duplexes and some will have small terraces.
Building amenities will include tenant recreation rooms, in-building laundry, parking for 31 cars, and storage for 42 bicycles.

Nataliya Donskoy of Brooklyn-based ND Architecture & Design P.C. is designing the project and The Bridge Building LLC is listed as the developer, though Brownstoner reported at the time of the design’s reveal that the Brooklyn Diocese appeared to still own the property.
The location abuts both Trinity Park and the Golconda Playgroynd and is a little under half a mile from the York St station on the F train. It’s also about 15 minutes by foot to Cadman Plaza Park, which is right by the A/C and 2/3, or to the Jay Street-MetroTech subway station.
