A rendering has been revealed of Mount Sinai Health System’s planned 70-bed hospital at 310 East 14th Street, located at the corner of Second Avenue in the East Village. The network is moving forward with the new location, dubbed Mount Sinai Downtown Beth Israel, following the scheduled closure of Mount Sinai Beth Israel, a 825-bed hospital in Gramercy.
The eight-story New York Eye and Ear Infirmary of Mount Sinai building will be redeveloped into Mount Sinai Downtown Beth Israel. The hospital will include an emergency department and roughly 70 patient beds. From the renderings, it appears the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary will remain in the complex. Perkins Eastman is behind the project’s design, Curbed NY reported. Mount Sinai is currently working to upgrade their entire downtown network in a $500 million initiative.
