The northeastern Bronx is still a bastion of small market-rate development. Yesterday, plans surfaced for a six-story, market-rate apartment building at 3545 White Plains Road in Williamsbridge, a couple blocks east of Woodlawn Cemetery and the Bronx River.
The development would rise on a vacant lot between East 213th Street and East Gun Hill Road, next to the elevated tracks for the 2 and 5 lines. It would have 20 apartments and 17,687 square feet of residential space, and typical units would measure 890 square feet.
A 2,500-square-foot retail space would occupy the ground floor, topped by four units on each of the upper floors. There won’t be any parking for cars, because none is required. The cellar will hold bike storage and recreation spaces.
The permit lists the developer as Haim Levy, doing business as a corporation based in Queens Village. The property hasn’t changed hands recently. The city has sold the 5,300-square-foot property’s tax liens a few times over the last decade, with the most recent sale recorded in 2011.
Briarwood-based architect Gerald Caliendo applied for the permits.

A bastion of small market-rate development, six-story is property and 20 apartments are marketing.
Hard sell living along side an elevated line. Soundproofing won’t kill all the noise and vibrations will always be a problem.
