In July 2015, the Landmarks Preservation Commission rejected a proposal by Green-Wood Cemetery to restore the Weir Greenhouse and build an adjacent three-story visitor center at 750 Fifth Avenue, located on the corner of 25th Street in Greenwood Heights. Later that year, the LPC approved restoration work, designed by Page Ayres Crowley Architects, on only the existing greenhouse structure. Construction is now underway on the 40-foot-tall structure, the Brooklyn Daily Eagle reported.
Planning is also moving forward on the ground-up building, which is expected to serve as a visitor center. The Green-Wood Historic Fund Inc. is considering hiring a different architecture firm, though it may end up keeping Page Ayres Cowley. The current footprint includes multiple low-rise commercial structures along 25th Street and Fifth Avenue. All are expected to be demolished.

Hello..YIMBY..decent on decided towards the Weir Greenhouse, in Greenwood Heights with the project needs any idea.
Thankfully, the 2015 proposal was not approved by the Landmarks Preservation Commission. It looks like a hideous Junior High School from the Mayor Abe Beame era. Can they be convinced to come up with a design that compliments and showcases the beauty of the greenhouse, rather than surrounding it with an eyesore, for no apparent reason?
