Yesterday, YIMBY brought you fresh renderings of Related’s planned supertall at 50 Hudson Yards. While permits for that project were only partially filed earlier this year, across Hudson Park & Boulevard, the building’s sibling at 55 Hudson Yards has now officially topped-out, as seen in the latest photos from Tectonic.
The skyscraper stands 51 floors and 780 feet to its rooftop, which currently makes it the second-tallest building in the immediate vicinity, but that prominence won’t last for long. 15, 30, and 35 Hudson Yards will all surpass the tower within the next year or so, and it will lose its eastern views a few years after that, when it will be surpassed by 50 Hudson Yards to the east, and 3 Hudson Boulevard to the west.
55 Hudson Yards totals 1.269 million square feet, and within that, there will be 1.12 million square feet of commercial space. The ground floor will house retail, and above that, the tower will be entirely office, with leases already secured for a number of prominent law firms.
In terms of office development, plans for 55 Hudson Yards moved exceedingly quickly; YIMBY revealed the tower back in May of 2014, and only nine months ago, it was at its seventeenth floor.
Kohn Pedersen Fox is the building’s architect, and Related is developing alongside Oxford Properties Group, though Mitsui Fudosan owns the vast majority of the tower. While the building has topped-out, actual completion is anticipated for next year.
