The Bronx has been making recent headlines, with plans for massive massive market-rate and affordable developments moving forward across several of the borough’s neighborhoods. Alongside the residential boom, the borough is now seeing sprinklings of commercial infill, and today YIMBY has the reveal for an office project that is set to rise at 775 East Tremont Avenue, in Tremont.
RJ Capital Holdings is set to develop the site, and the new building will span approximately 72,000 square feet, rising six stories in all. Of that, about 59,000 square feet will be available for lease at $35/square foot. Foot Locker, Rent-A-Center, and Danice are already anchoring the project, and will occupy the first floor.
The architect has not yet been revealed, but the design will be a substantial improvement over the site’s existing retail. The appearance seems to mimic some of the higher-end residential developments rising along The Bowery on Manhattan’s Lower East Side, and while the ultra-contemporary look isn’t common to new buildings in the Bronx, it will be much more attractive than the extant structure.
Completion is anticipated by 2021, with work expected to begin in the second quarter of 2019.
