Downtown Brooklyn’s 15 Lafayette Avenue has risen to its full height, with façade installation now complete. Photographs by Tectonic reveal that the structure now stands its full 12 stories, and the exterior has been fully installed. The 138-foot tall building was designed by Dattner Architects, and interiors are not yet finished.
YIMBY last reported on this building in December of last year, when construction reached the seventh floor. The project will be branded as BCD:A, an abbreviation for the Brooklyn Cultural District Apartments, a representative from the Jonathan Rose Companies told YIMBY. The Rose Companies-led development team was selected by the New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development.
The 120,000-square-foot project will produce 116 apartments, with forty percent going at below-market rates. Residents will have access to a fitness center, bicycle storage, two lounges and a rooftop terrace. There will be 21,000 square feet of cultural community space across parts of the cellar through second floors, with both the Center for Fiction and the Mark Morris Dance Group as tenants. Dattner Architects is the lead designer, Bernheimer Architecture is the associate architect, and SCAPE/Landscape Architecture is also assisting.
Completion is expected by the end of the year.
