Permits have been filed for a six-story mixed-use building at 1299 3rd Avenue, on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. The site is three blocks away from the 77th Street subway station, serviced by the 4 and 6 trains, and four blocks away from the 72nd Street subway station, serviced by the Q train. Continental Ventures is responsible for the development.
YIMBY last reported on this development two weeks ago, when demolition permits were filed for the existing five-story structure at 1299, as well as 1297 3rd Ave. There were also reports that Premier Equities and Thor Equities were considering the site for a 31-story residential tower, yielding 100,000 square feet. This does not rule out the possibilities of a residential tower since the plan also involves lots 1291-1297.
The 68-foot tall structure will yield 20,930 square feet of space, with 1,250 square feet dedicated to ground floor retail and 19,680 square feet dedicated to residential use. Incredibly, only three apartments are planned for the site, averaging 6,560 square feet apiece, translating into townhouse-sized condominiums.

I truly hope that this GARGANTUAN OVERLY ABUNDANCE OF condo AFTER condo TOWERS WON’T CRUSH MY Favorite vegan healthy restaurant The Candle Cafe. The entire upper east side is being bulldozed to the limit with an invasion of mega towers like an army of Transformer figures making it a Godzilla of condo towers one on top of the other. Like some friend of mine said to me “pretty soon no one will be able to see our upper east side skies anymore!”
