Permits have been filed for an eight-story hotel at 104-16 Tuckerton Street in Jamaica, Queens. Located on the corner of Tuckerton Street and main thoroughfare Liberty Avenue, the development is three blocks away from the Jamaica Center – Parsons/Archer subway station, serviced by the E, J and Z trains. Amritpal Sandhu’s Liberty Tuck NY LLC is listed as the developer.
A closer look found a lack of available lodgings catering to the neighborhood and its proximity to JFK airport. The nearest options were closer to the Sutphin Boulevard – Archer Avenue subway location on the same lines, and include a Days Inn & Suites by Wyndham Jamaica JFK Airport, Hotel Ninety Five, Howard Johnson by Wyndham Jamaica NY and Wingate by Wyndham JFK Airport.
The proposed hotel will be 81 feet tall with 120 rooms, totaling 36,670 square feet. Demolition permits have not been filed for the existing structure. Manish Savani’s Jamaica-based design firm is the architect of record. Manish is known for having designed numerous hotels in Queens and Brooklyn.
An estimated completion date has not been announced.
